Suzanne (Werner) Willis, 83, passed away at 9:20pm Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Memorial Hospital. After receiving the last Sacrament, she went home to be with our Lord. She died peacefully surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born September 11, 1935 in Vincennes, IN to the late Wood C. and Ada (McAtee) Smith.
Suzanne graduated from St. Rose Academy in 1953. She was one of the ”St. Rose Girls” and was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church for 63 years. Her church was a big part of her life. Suzanne was a very devoted Catholic.
Suzanne enjoyed gardening, making pickles and relish, her “CLB Luncheons”, attending her grandkids’ school and sporting events, working elections (she proudly represented the Democrat Party), but most of all spending time with her family.
She was a loving wife, mother, and above all grandmother. She adored her grandkids and great grandkids. She was known to many as “Grandma Sue”.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Werner, brother; Jack Smith and sisters; Jean McNeece, Eloise Kimsey.
She is survived by her husband Jack Willis, son Jeff (Sue) Werner, daughters; Julie Weeks (Larry Eck), Mary (Paul) DeMoss ,and Step-Daughter Deena (Jeff) Jackson.
Grandchildren; Natalie (Luke) McGiffen, Daniel (Sara) Weeks, Elizabeth DeMoss (Nathan Buchanan), Emily DeMoss (Josh Lipe-Melton), James (Jasmine) Werner, Alex Werner, Step Grandchildren; Jayme (Cody) Lane, Joshua (Kylie) Jackson.
Great Grandchildren; Aidan, Isaac, and Leo James McGiffen, Matilda Weeks and Mika Sigari.
Step great grandchildren; Ora, Chance, and Colt Lane, Leighton, and Mailin Jackson.
And many other nieces and nephews.
Funeral and visitation services will be held at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Petersburg. Visitation will be Thursday 4-8:00pm, Rosary will be said at 8:00pm. Funeral Mass will be Friday at 10:00am. Burial will be at Walnut Hills Cemetery in Petersburg, immediately following the funeral.
