Sharon Kay Booth, 77, of Petersburg, passed away February 23 in Washington, IN. She was born January 21, 1947 to Paul and Hazel (Henson) Wheatley in Washington, IN. Sharon was a faithful member of the Petersburg First Church of God where she served as the Treasurer for many years. She was a member of the local Rebecca’s chapter. She was also a diehard Cincinnati Reds Fan and influenced all of her grandchildren to be Reds fans as well. She served Pike County for the majority of her life. First as Chief Deputy in the Pike County Auditor’s office for 8 years and then she went on to serve as the Pike County Auditor for two terms. After that she served on the Pike County Council for one term and then served as the County CASA Director.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Roger Booth of Petersburg; son, Sean Booth of Petersburg; daughters, Julie (John) Ward of Petersburg and Jody (Greg) Craig of Otwell; grandchildren, Allyson Bowers, Patrick Booth, Clint Craig, and Rustin Ward; 6 great grandchildren; brothers, Mike (Brenda) Wheatley and Jeff (Stacy) Wheatley; sisters, Karen Wheatley and Jean (Dan) Osborn; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Luci Ward; and brother, Ronnie Wheatley.
Services for Sharon will take place at 3 PM EST on Wednesday, February 28, at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg with visitation from 10 AM until service time at the funeral home. Pastor Mike Roach will be officiating and burial will follow at the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Campbelltown, IN. Harris Funeral Home is entrusted with care.
