Ronnie "Dude" Sorgius

In loving memory of Ronnie Sorgius age of 63 on 28th February 2020, passed away at his home in Jasper, Indiana. He was born on August 25,1956 in Dubois County, Indiana to Gerald L. “Rip” Sorgius and Betty Sue Ellison of Pike County, Otwell, Indiana.

He graduated as Valedictorian of Otwell High School class of 1974 and received his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from University of Evansville in 1978. Ronnie was a member of the University of Evansville Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity in which he served as President in 1977.

Ronnie is the founder of Ellison Distributing Inc. of Huntingburg, Indiana. His admiration for the Agriculture Industry began through his family business Ripco LTD in Otwell Indiana.

 He was passionate about sports, especially basketball and track, eating all kinds of foods, and watching the ocean waves. Most of all, Ronnie loved his family and helping people, assisting in The Southwest Indiana Walk to Emmaus, and being a servant for Christ. Ronnie was a member of the Redemption Christian church of Jasper, Indiana.

He leaves his legacy with his spouse Lu Ann (Stone-Blue), two sons Christopher L. (Laura) Blue and Nicholas R. Blue, five grandchildren, Bryce L. Blue, Grant R. Blue, Ian L. Blue, Keaton L. Blue, Remi Ann Blue, and his grand dogs all of Jasper, Indiana. One brother Gary D. (Cheryl) Sorgius of Vincennes, Indiana, two sisters, Teresa S. (Larry) Kruse of Princeton, Indiana, Rhonda D. (David) Jochim of Otwell, Indiana, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation and Celebration of Life will be held at the Redemption Christian Church. Visitation is Friday, March 6th, 2020 from 2-8 pm and Saturday March 7th 9-11 with funeral services to follow at 11 am. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Jasper, IN.

In lieu of flowers, contribution can be made to the Otwell High School Scholarship fund through the Pike County Community Foundation - Box 587 Petersburg, IN 47567 and Redemption Christian Church – 1450 Energy Dr. Jasper, IN 47546. Harris Funeral Home is entrusted with care.
