Roger F. Davis, 86, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2020 at his daughter's home in Washington, IN. He was born in Algiers, Indiana on June 27, 1933 to Floyd and Annis (Bell) Davis. Following service in the U.S. Army, he graduated with a teaching degree from Oakland City University, where he was selected as Mr. Basketball, Alumnus of the Year, and an inductee of the OCU Basketball Hall of Fame. He taught in Elberfeld before taking a teaching position at Otwell High School, where he also served as basketball coach. He sold insurance in Otwell for 58 years, worked as an inspector and field supervisor for the State of Indiana, and served as a Republican on the Petersburg City Council. He was a member of Algiers United Methodist Church, Otwell Ruritan, and an IHSAA referee.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son Curt; grandson Chris; brothers Donald, James, Pat & Gary; and sisters Marge & Cleta.
He is survived by daughter Connie Davis and her mother Frances Madlem of Washington, IN; grandchildren Carie & Courtney Davis, Morgan & Christina Smith; and great-grandchildren Christopher, Kaden, & Andi Davis; sisters Virginia Polen & Lavone Hollis.
A private family graveside service will be conducted at Walnut Hills Cemetery.
