Rickey A Willis, 68 of Winslow, Indiana passed away on January 20, 2022. He was born April 3,
1953 to Gardner J Willis and Dixie J Houchins Willis.
He was a graduate of Petersburg High School, Class of 1971, where he excelled in basketball,
track, and as drum major for the marching band. He attended Oakland City College before he
began his 32 year career at Texas Gas Transmission in Hazleton, Indiana. He continued to play
many sports throughout his life including church softball, volleyball, and community basketball.
Rick enjoyed hunting, motorcycle riding, and being outdoors. He was an avid IU basketball fan
and an Indianapolis Colts fan. He enjoyed watching his children's sports activities including
Beth’s cheerleading and track, Amy’s swimming and track, and his bonus son’s, Lucas and
Alex, football. He also took pride in chauffeuring his bonus daughter, Leslie, on shopping trips.
Most recently he loved following Alex’s high school and college wrestling career. He coached
several Pike County youth sports and was known as a coach that ensured all participants got to
play.
Rick was a man of God, muscially inclined, sang, and played the gituar. He was a member of
Gospel Center Church in Petersburg where he was a choir director for a time and led several
cantatas.
He is survived by his mother, Dixie, his wife of twenty years, Sue (Neal) Roberts-Willis, his
daughters, Beth (Joe) Lackore, Amy (Mike) Dressel, step children, Lucas (Leslie Whitehead)
Roberts, Leslie Roberts, Alex Roberts, his two sisters, Teresa (John) Melhiser, Lisa (Ron)
Gladish, and twelve grandchildren, Justin, Emma, Naya, Koen, Caleb, Kale, Camren, Nora,
Koby, Maddy Jo, Sofia, and Grace.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gardner in 2008.
A celebration of life and graveside services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions
may be made to Pike Central Athletic department, Pike Animal Shelter (PAWS), or your favorite
charity.
