Peggy (Crecelius) Blaize

Peggy Blaize, 97, of Petersburg, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2023, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.

Peggy was born on January 7, 1926 in Oatville, Indiana, to Hugh and Alice (O’Neil) Crecelius.  She graduated at age 15 from Mount Olympus School and, following graduation from business school in Indianapolis, worked as a legal secretary for John Clouse Law Office in Evansville and Hall, Partenheimer & Leucking in Princeton, Indiana.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: first husband Donald Hatten; second husband John L. Blaize; daughter Susan Hatten; sons Jay & Joe Hatten; stepdaughter Maryann Larson; and brothers Charles & Donald Crecelius.

Peggy is survived by: son Terry Wayne Hatten of Petersburg, Indiana; grandchildren Alecia (Tom) Ascher of Princeton, Indiana, Brandon (Amber) Hatten of Princeton, Indiana, Jordan (Kirsten) Hatten of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Alana & Colton Haas of Princeton, Indiana, and Shawn (Jennifer) Larson of Gainsville, Florida; great grandchildren Triton & Gunner Ascher of Princeton, Indiana, Aiden & Wyatt Mahan of Princeton, Indiana, Holden Hatten of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Freya Hatten of Princeton, Indiana, and Vivienne & Koa Larson of Gainsville, Florida; and several cousins and nieces.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm EST on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at O.D. Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg, Indiana, Pastor Gary Arnold officiating, with burial to follow at Walnut Hills Cemetery.  Visitation will be from Noon until service time at the funeral home.
