Obituary
Nellie Francis Jones, 84, of Ferdinand, Indiana, passed away April 10, 2023, at Scenic Hills at the Monastery.
She was born on December 27, 1938, to Marvin and Louise Baker in Vincennes. Indiana. The family moved to Winslow, Indiana, where she spent her formative years.
She worked for various firms and was a private secretary at Indianapolis Power and Light (IPALCO) where she retired after 31 years of employment.
Nellie was a born again Christian and a faithful follower of Christ.
She married Duane Jones on April 20, 1957, and they spent 61 years together until his death.
As world travelers they visited all 48 states and many foreign countries. She was an avid quilter and seamstress, loved fishing and spending time with friends and family.
Preceding her in death were her parents and husband.
She is survived by her son, Alan Wayne Jones of Florida; siblings Woody (Marilyn) Baker, Terri (Dale) Frederick & Tony Baker, as well as many nieces, nephews and their families; and her special friends Rex and Kathy Hoppes, with whom they spent many vacations together.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at Arthur General Baptist Church. Everyone who knew Nellie is encouraged to attend.
