Maury L. Cundiff passed away peacefully after a long illness at his home in Petersburg, Thursday afternoon June 27th.  He was born in Petersburg October 1st. 1930 to Herman and Opal (Dick) Cundiff and was a life time resident of Petersburg.

He was  a retired conductor for the Conrail Railroad with nearly 50 years of service.  He had a passion for horse racing and had been a thoroughbred racehorse owner.  

Maury was a dedicated member of the Petersburg Moose Lodge where he went almost daily to play pool and engage in conversation with his many cherished friends. 

He hunted and fished Pike County most of his life and enjoyed telling stories of those days.  He had an appreciation for wild life and In his later years he sat daily observing nature from his front porch swing.

He was preceded in passing by a son, Joey,  his former wife Arbutus Johnson Reed, wife Alice (Knowles), brother Tommy of Franklin Indiana, and his parents.   

He is survived by sons Tony of Houston Texas, Mike in Thorntown Indiana, a daughter Scarlet Cundiff Frazier in Palm Springs California,  a sister Sue Nations in Cape Fear N.C..  Grandsons are Jeremy Cundiff of Palm Coast Fl.; Shad, Nathan, & Chance Cundiff, of Houston Tx.; Christopher of  Lebanon Indiana, and Tony in Thorntown Indiana. Granddaughters are Kacie Cundiff of LaFayette Indiana, Nikki & Sarah of Thorntown, and Emily Bayne of Vincennes.  He has nineteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. 

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 3 from  4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Harris Funeral Home.  Funeral service is 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 4th. with Pastor Ron Ficklin officiating. Burial will be at Walnut Hills Cemetery.
