Mary Beth (Kerr) Johnson

Mary Elizabeth (Kerr) Johnson, 66, passed away peacefully January 26, 2021 at home.  Mary was born December 9, 1954 to John and Bonnie Kerr, both proceed in death.

Mary attended Petersburg High School and graduated in 1973.  She attended Vincennes University.  She met and married her highschool sweetheart John, and were married in 1975.  

Their union produced three children, which she loved with the fierceness of a mother bear.

Mary’s faith was very important to her. She attended St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Petersburg.  Her faith never wavered even with the death of our daughter Sarah.  

The last few years of declining health were very hard on her, but she never gave up. She took great delight in watching her grandchildren play on the floor, and getting pictures of them.  

Her other great love was I.U. basketball, which she attended home games for years until her health stopped her.

She loved the beaches in Florida, where she would spend hours staring at the waves.  

Mary is survived by her Husband John, sons Michael(Jill) Johnson, Patrick(Meaghan) Johnson, four grandchildren Andy, Sadie, Hallie, and Gabriel. Nephews Chris Leach, and Seth Kerr, Nieces Katie Leach, and Shea Ruidniki.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Sarah, sister Karen Leach, and brothers Mark Kerr, and Tim Kerr. 

Services will be Saturday morning at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Petersburg. Visitation will be from 8am to 10 am. A mass will be at 10 am with Burial to follow at Walnut Hills Cemetery in Petersburg.  

In Lieu of flowers donations to St. Peter & Paul Iadies Club or Somebody's Place. 

Masks and Social distancing will be Required.
