Luther Stephen “Steve” Ennis, 71, of Petersburg, Indiana, left his earthly life to be with his heavenly father on August 18, 2023.
He was born to Luther Ephram Ennis and Rose Mae (Cockerham) Ennis on July 8, 1952.
He is survived by a sister, Ora Jayne (Ennis Nagel) Arthur. He spent 40 years with his love, Lorelei Sue (Shoultz) Ennis, and she preceded him in death. His parents also preceded him in death.
Steve and Lorelei grew a family of three children, Angie Sallee (Jim), Stephanie Sallee, and Randy Ennis (Melanie). They were blessed with ten grandchildren Ruby, Jamie, and Morgan Sallee (Angie and Jim), Clay (Chey), Collin (Kassie), Zarah, and Gloryanna Sallee (Stephanie), and Shelby (Griffin)(Randy), Steven, and Quinton Ennis (Randy and Melanie). They have three great-grandchildren, Axel and Addi Sallee (Clay and Chey), and Oliver Robbins (Shelby and Griffin).
Steve leaves behind his girlfriend that he has enjoyed spending time with for the past eleven years, Sherry Lynn Cockerham. Sherry has two children, Misty and Holly. She is proud of five grandchildren, E.J. Willis (Courtney) and Caleb (Elisa) Cockerham-Willis (Misty) and Trey Moade, Ariel Moade, and Riley Knight (Holly).
Steve spent the majority of his life praying from the seat of a tractor, and passed countless skills onto his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed being outdoors. You would often find him hunting, fishing, boating, working on vehicles, making wine, spending time at the casino with his friends, and spending time with his kids and grandkids. They all looked up to him for advice and wisdom.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at O.D. Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg, Indiana, with burial to follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00pm on Friday, August 25, 2023, and Saturday morning from 10:00am until service time at the funeral home.
