Julie Shepard Obituary

On Monday, November 16, 2020, Julia Kay Tredway-Shepard, loving mother of three children, passed away after a lengthy illness, at age 60.

Julie was born on September 21, 1960, in Washington, Indiana to Hilbert and Patricia (Wiseman) Tredway.  Julie attended Otwell Elementary and Junior High School and graduated from Pike Central High School.   She worked as a hostess at September’s Restaurant, was a seamstress at a couple of local factories, and later worked at Jasper Memorial Hospital as a Phlebotomist for the lab.  Julie lived in Pike County her whole life and raised two sons, Spencer and Jace, and a daughter, Katie.

Julie had a flair for the dramatic and entertained many with her theatrical skills as an actress and a singer.   She was active in Drama, Concert Choir and Swing Choir at Pike Central High School.  When she was 16 years of age, she played 3 major roles as a resident of Vincennes University’s summer theatre.  At age 17 she won “Best Actress” honors for her portrayal of Abby Brewster in “Arsenic and Old Lace” at the International Thespian Conference in Connersville.  Julie also helped form Pike Civic Theatre and was President of the organization at age 23 while also directing major productions.  She was also active with Veale Creek Theatre and Shawnee Summer Theatre.  Julie was often requested to sing the National Anthem at area events and sang at many local weddings for friends and family.  She was also known for her quick wit and her contagious laughter.

Julie was preceded in death by her father, Hilbert, and her mother, Patricia.  She is survived by her three children, Spencer, Katie, and Jace, her sister, Sherri (Barry) Dorsey, and her brother, Brad (Sherri) Tredway, along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date when family and friends can hopefully actually gather.   In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to help with burial expenses via a Fundraiser on her daughter, Katie Michelle’s Facebook page.
