Eddie Alan Deffendall, born September 6th, 1954, in Petersburg, IN was called home to fix the gates of Heaven on April 5th, 2023. Spending life as an avid contractor, Eddie is the only one with the credentials to fix those pearly gates.
Eddie is preceded in death by his wife, Rena (Robb) Deffendall of Hazelton, Indiana, married July 1995, his son Christopher Ingle, a daughter, Dara Fine, his parents, Linden ‘Paul’ Deffendall and Edith (Bunt) Deffendall, two brothers, Ronald and Reggie Deffendall and a sister Sue Selby.
Continuing to live on in Eddie’s legacy are his sons Derek Deffendall, Jimmy Wheeler, Timothy Ingle and Jeremy Ingle. His sister Debbie Underhill and brother Lee Deffendall, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including Corrinne Deffendall (Stephen Day), Bree Deffendall (Brayton Chanley), Kaleb Deffendall, Marleigh and Viktor Ingle, Lucas Chanley and Elyana Day.
Eddie worked for Pike County Development after the devastating tornado in 1990, in an effort to give back to the city that gave so much to him throughout his life. He was a hard worker who was determined to help those he loves. If your water heater was acting up, if your car was making a noise, or even if you needed help with that leaky shower, Ed was your guy. A jack of all trades with a contagious laugh and infectious smile, Eddie was willing to lend a hand whenever needed.
Eddie spent his free time listening to music, hanging out with his dogs, riding his motorcycle, and packing all his tools around in his most prized possession, the Lil’Hauler. If you know Eddie, you know he is proud of his Lil’Hauler and thoroughly enjoyed showing off his car to anyone who had a moment to spare. Being able to be outdoors with the opportunity to throw a line in the water, or go golfing with his son Derek, is something Eddie looked forward to every summer.
Even though Eddie has taken a new job as Heaven’s contractor, he will continue to live on through the lives of everyone he touched. He left us with a wealth knowledge and a lifetime of memories that will never fade. A celebration of life will be held Sunday, April 16th, 2pm to 4pm at Eddie’s favorite local hang out, Friends Bar and Grill, 802 E Main St in Petersburg, IN.
The family would like to thank each and every one of you for the kind words and thoughts during this time. They would also like to extend their gratitude to Eddie’s ‘Friends’ family for their generosity in the use of their facilities.
