Donald "Knothole" Nelson Obituary

Donald “Knothole” L. Nelson, 89, of Winslow, passed away December 19, 2023, in Newburgh, IN. He was born September 5, 1934, to Will and Josephine (Beadles) Nelson in Pike County, IN. He proudly served in the United States Air Force. Knothole worked for Whirlpool until he went on to obtain his Master's in teaching and taught Auto Mechanics for many years Winslow High School and then at Pike Central. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved trapping.

Knothole is survived by his wife, Stella Nelson; daughter, Kyle Hindahl; grandchildren, Cortney (Erik) Sviggum, Kiersten (Caleb) Levell, and Kaylyn (John) Ketchum; great grandchildren, Bjorn, Nora, Solvei, and Anders Sviggum, Ezra Levell, and Stella Ketchum; and his sister, Joetta Gudorf.

He is preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Josephine and Welborn Ross; father, Will Nelson; and his brother, Marvin Nelson.

Services for Knothole will take place at 2 PM EST on Friday, December 22, at Harris Funeral Home with visitation from 10 AM until service time at the funeral home. Pastor Gary Arnold will be officiating and burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery in Winslow. Harris Funeral Home is entrusted with care.
