Donald Edward Carter, 92, passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at his home in Petersburg, Indiana. He was born December 18, 1928 in Pike County to Floyd and Vada (Bradfield) Carter. He was married on September 30, 1947 and was preceded death by his wife, Dessie C. Carter, on August 7, 2013. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Zelma Dean Pauw.
Ed served in the U.S. Army, and worked as a truck driver for Buchta Trucking, and later worked for Pike County Solid Waste.
He is survived by his 3 children: Ron Carter, Brenda (Michael) Wilson, and Patty Ayala; 6 grandchildren: Susan (Bryan) Sluder, Michael (Dana) Wilson, Penny (Rod) Myers, JR (Danielle) Carter, Kevin (Shawna) Carter, and Ray Ayala; 13 great-grandchildren: Alli (Eric) Betz, Shelby Meadows, Matthew Meadows, Guy Myers, Brooke Myers, Bo Myers, Jeff (Kacey) Wilson, Megan (Jamen) Frederick, Dominick Smith, Bethany Carter, Braden Wilson, Nate Carter and Cody Carter; and 3 great-great-grandchildren: Carter Wilson, Lilly Wilson, and Owen Wilson.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at O.D. Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg, Indiana with Pastor George Bruce officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday from Noon until service time. Burial will be at Anderson Chapel Cemetery.
