Walter Frederick Hindahl Jr., 92, passed away December 16th, 2017 at Amber Manor nursing facility in Petersburg.  He was born August 5th, 1925 in San Jose, Illinois to Walter F. Hindahl, Sr. and Zelma (Scott) Hindahl.
Walter was retired from Midwestern Gas Transmission where he worked for almost 40 years.  He was a long-time member of the Petersburg First United Methodist Church.  He was a member of the choir and served in the past as lay leader.  He also distributed tapes of the services to those who couldn't attend for almost 25 years.  He was a member of the Lions club and was Past-President.
Walter was preceded in death by Dorothy (Schulz) Hindahl, his wife of 54 years.  He was also preceded in death by his father Walter F. Hindahl, Sr., mother Zelma (Scott) Hindahl, brothers John, Joseph and Richard.  He is survived by his four sons Gregory of Oldsmar, Florida, Bradley of Duluth, Georgia, Jeffrey of Owensboro, Kentucky and Phillip of Lutz, Florida.  He is also survived by Granddaughters Cortney (Hindahl) Sviggum, Kiersten (Hindahl) Levell, Kaylyn (Hindahl) Ketchum, Miranda Hindahl, and Grandson Oliver Hindahl.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 22nd from 4-8 pm EST at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg. The funeral will be held Saturday, December 23rd at 10:00 at Petersburg First United Methodist Church with burial immediately to follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Petersburg. Harris Funeral Home is entrusted with care.
