W. Joyce Bales of Salem, Alabama, formerly of Petersburg, Indiana passed away in Alabama on Sunday, July 21, 2024. Joyce was born on October 11, 1936 to Jesse Curtis Knight and Bessie Irene (Blackburn) Knight. She loved to travel and had lived in several states throughout her life. She loved spending time with her family and her beloved pets and brought joy to so many with her sassiness and kindness. She liked raising flowers and shopping at thrift stores. She is survived by her three children and spouses, Chuck (Sharon) Miller; Peni Belrose and Robert (Joy) Miller. She has three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Carroll Sue Cockerham and brother and sister-in-law Frank and Mary Knight, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Curtis Knight and Bessie Irene (Blackburn) Knight; her husband Harry Bales; a brother and sister-in-law Jesse Curtis (Bud) and Beverly Knight Jr. and a sister and brother-in-law Anne and Roscoe (Rocky) Rainey. Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 from 11 am to 2 pm (EST) with a Funeral Service at 2 pm (EST) at O.D. Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg, Indiana. Burial will follow in Walnut Hills Cemetery in Petersburg.
