IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Timothy Doyle
Nelson
March 28, 1962 – January 2, 2024
Timothy "Tim" Doyle Nelson, 61, of Petersburg, Indiana, passed away on January 2, 2024 at Jasper Memorial Hospital. Tim was born on March 28, 1962, in Oakland City, Indiana. He was a loving husband to Carrie Sue Nelson and a devoted father to his daughters, Brittney (Clint) Russell of Winslow, Jessica (Will) Springer of Sullivan and son Jeremy (Sarah) Meier of Jacksonville, Florida and his loving canine companions, Reggie and Ruger. Tim adored his grandchildren aka "his Boyz", Cainan, Caisan and Cade Russell and cherished his close relationship with his sisters Linda Daughtery (Leroy Balbach) of Winslow, Tamela English of Petersburg, Kristy Nelson (Paul Schwinghammer) of Huntingburg and Paula Taylor of Winslow.
Tim was an ASE master certified mechanic and licensed CDL driver, known for his dedication and expertise in the field of auto mechanics. He would go above and beyond to help others with their car servicing and advice. When he wasn't working, Tim enjoyed sipping sweet tea and spending time watching television and movies. Despite considering himself a non-social person, he would reach out to friends and family regularly, always found a way to keep himself busy. His most prized title though was "Papaw". In addition to his passion for mechanics, Tim had various hobbies that brought him joy. He loved fishing, camping, working in the yard, all kinds of tinkering, playful antics, singing, songwriting and playing guitar, collecting firearms, attending auctions with his son-in-law Clint and being a dedicated pool boy for his wife. Tim also loved watching his kids and grandkids in different school and sports activities throughout the years.
Throughout his career, Tim held various mechanic positions, including roles at Styline Logistics, Hobbs & Hall, Klipsch Motors, Pike Central School Corporation and Petersburg Hardware. He later joined O'Reilly Auto Parts, where he assisted numerous employees and customers with their mechanic needs and questions. If it had an engine, Tim could make it run. Tim's commitment to his work and his desire to keep his mind sharp were evident throughout his professional journey.
Tim leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness. He will be deeply missed by his godchildren, Deidra Braun and Bridget Hargus, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Henry Nelson Jr., Carolyn Parkhill, Michael "Cowboy" Nelson, Sherry Nelson and Menetta Strobel. Tim also joins his parents, Henry Nelson Sr. and Menta Walker and his in-laws, Larry and Norma Smolek, Steve English and Jeri Worland, in eternal rest.
A visitation and service to celebrate Tim's life will be held on Friday, January 12, 2024, at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg, Indiana. Visitation will begin at 3 PM EST with a memorial service starting at 6 PM EST led by Pastor Jerry "Tuffy" Blackwell. The caring and professional staff at Harris Funeral Home is honored to assist the Nelson family during this difficult time.
