Thelma (Barrett) Barnes, 82, of New Harmony, formerly of Pike County, passed away June 7, 2025 at her residence. She was born June 18, 1942 to William and Mattie (Hartley) Barrett in Glezen, IN. Thelma was a faithful member of the Independent Pentecostal Church in Mt. Vernon. She enjoyed thrift store shopping, gardening, and anything outdoors. Above all hobbies she absolutely loved quilting though. She made numerous quilts throughout her life and each one she put her heart into it.

Thelma is survived by her sons, Dale (Kim) Wiscaver, Tim (Pam) Wiscaver, Carl Wiscaver, Ricky (Brenda) Wiscaver, and her honorary son, Joseph Smith; daughters, Jacqueline Combs and MaLinda Smith; brother, Bernard Barrett and Bethany Stires; several grandchildren, great, and great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved cat, Royyoki.

Thelma is preceded in death by her husband, Roy Barnes; daughter, Elizabeth Ann Wiscaver; brothers, William J. Barrett and Harry Barrett; sisters, Gloreatta Mitchell and Mary Thigpen.

Services for Thelma will take place at 1 PM EST on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg, IN with visitation from 11 AM EST until service time. Pastor David Payne will be officiating and burial will follow at Williams Cemetery near Arthur, IN. Harris Funeral Home is entrusted with care.
