Robert W. McCarter, 83, of Wheatland passed away in Vincennes on April 16, 2018. He was born January 4, 1935 in Vincennes to Russell and Cora McCarter. Robert married his wife Florence on May 23, 1957. He spent his life farming and logging, loved mushroom hunting, fishing, and riding his Kubota with his dog Missy. He is survived by his sons, Jim (Joyce) McCarter of Wheatland, Donnie McCarter of Wheatland, and David (Becky) McCarter of Wheatland; daughters, Brenda (Harold) Hill of Wheatland; 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; brothers, Jack McCarter of Bicknell and Mac McCarter of Paxton, IN; sisters, Helen McCord of Vincennes and Grace Gilbert of Vincennes; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Florence McCarter, 2 great grandchildren, 4 brothers, and his parents. Roberts services will be held at 12 PM on Friday, April 20, at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg with visitation from 10 AM until service time. Pastor Sam McCord will officiate and burial will take place at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Monroe City. Harris Funeral Home is entrusted with care.
