Robert Gene DeJarnett, 81, of Petersburg, passed away September 4, 2023 at his residence. He was born August 20, 1942 in Petersburg, IN. Gene was an avid fisherman who loved going out fishing with his friends. He was a member of the Petersburg VFW Post #3587. He worked for many years and retired from the Gibson Station Power Plant.

Gene is survived by his son, Kevin DeJarnett of Princeton; daughter, Kelly (Jim) Decker of Burleson, TX; grandchildren, Tiffany Parker, Destany Boterf, Christian Decker, and Amber DeJarnett; 8 great grandchildren; the mother of his two children and love of his life, Karen (Bob) Medaris of Petersburg; Faye Smith of Elizabethtown, KY; and several nieces and nephews.

Services for Gene will take place at 2 PM EST on Friday, September 8, at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg, IN with visitation from 11 AM until service time. Pastor Jim Murray will be officiating and burial will follow at Walnut Hills Cemetery in Petersburg. Harris Funeral Home is entrusted with care.
