Robert Ray Abbott, 74, passed away on Sunday, July 8, in Evansville, IN. He was born to Robert and Myrtle Vaughn Abbott on July 27, 1943 in Peoria, IL. He worked for many years as a truck driver and was very active in the Petersburg VFW and Moose Lodge. Ray is survived by his sons, Thomas Abbott-Crossville, TN and Terry Abbott-Petersburg; daughters, Treva Abbott Gonzalez- Princeton, IN and Theresa Abbott- Lynnville, IN; stepson, Jade Culbertson-Knoxville, TN; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; brothers, Harold Abbott-Washington, IN and Michael Abbott-Crossville, TN; and sister Ruth Pendelton-Grandview, TN. He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Patricia Dawson Abbott. Visitation for Ray will take place from 4-8 PM on Thursday, July 12, at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg. Services will take place at Hickey & Son Funeral Home in Monticello, KY and final resting place will be in the family cemetery in Ritner, KY.
