Peggy Ann (Wagner) Capozella, 80, of Petersburg, went home to be with Jesus on February 7, 2026, at Amber Manor surrounded by her family. She was born on February 13, 1945, to Frank and Margaret (Timberlake) Wagner of Columbus, Ohio. She married James M. Capozella on September 7, 1967. They have a daughter, Michele Lynn (Capozella) Coffey, born in 1970 in Hawaii, and a son, Lance Michael Capozella born in 1973 in Ravena, Ohio.

Out of high school, Peggy was a professional seamstress in downtown Columbus. She became an oral history developer for the Adair County Library system, was an ARC work shop supervisor and medical manager for county group home residents, and also coached Special Olympics while homesteading on 72 acres. Later in life, she managed the Punk Willis grocery store and was active in quilt guild, attending numerous retreats. While her husband was serving in the USAF Security Service in Hawaii, she supervised patients at the Iai Clinic located on the heights overlooking Pearl Harbor. From that vantage point she had a front row seat to view the filming of Tora Tora Tora. Peggy retired from Memorial Hospital as a Behavioral Health Tech charting vitals and conducting group therapy.

Peggy is survived by her husband of 58 years; her children: Michele (Sean) Coffey, Lance (Trish Broaddus) Capozella; grandchildren: Lance Capozella, Glenn Capozella, Jacob Capozella, Samuel Broaddus and Aaron Broaddus; a brother, Richard (Roberta) Wagner of Columbus; and a sister, Mary Wagner of Columbus. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Margaret Wagner, and daughter-in-law, Glenda (Ryan) Capozella.

Her greatest commitment and love was for her children and grandchildren. They meant everything to her. Secondary to family was her willingness to travel when they pursued their dreams across the country. Visiting kin took her many miles to the far flung states. Her many trips and adventures included climbing Diamond Head in Hawaii, flipping jet skis not once, but twice, rafting class 4 rapids in Colorado, and diving in Shark’s Cove on the North Shore. Deep sea fishing was usually too much wave action for her, but shore fishing was her ticket. Out west was a favorite destination—seeing in-laws plus all the sights. The Rockies stood tall, but Route 66 was more her style. A ride to Fort Meade during the Sturgis Rally was an adventure up on two wheels.

Peggy had a love for animals and especially family pets that included Labradors and a Persian cat brought back from Hawaii. She would try anything once—including a four-day cross country rail trip on the California Zephyr. A trip she didn’t want to make was three false starts to Tripler Army Hospital for child number one. The week after that proved to be an even tougher time when her husband was sent on a South China Sea Assignment, leaving her alone with a seven-day-old for a month. In more recent times, she showed her strength by surviving breast cancer. She was a people person, performing a successful Heimlich maneuver, several CPR routines, and being a strong supporter of DAV as well as a Chaplain in the VFW. She was a member of the Petersburg Holiness Church on North Knox Road.

Services for Peggy will be at the Petersburg Holiness Church Saturday, February 14 at noon EST with Rev. Chad Searls officiating. Viewing will be from 10 am EST until the noon service. Peggy will be laid to rest at Walnut Hills Cemetery in Petersburg, IN, following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Petersburg Holiness Church. Harris Funeral Home is entrusted with care.
