Paul Richard "Butch" Grable, 82, of Petersburg, passed away January 19, 2025 in Vincennes IN. He was born March 21, 1942 to Richard and Reba (Wilson) Grable in Petersburg. Butch served his country in the United States Army. He worked as a Reclamation Specialist for Solar Sources for many years. He professionally trained quarter horses, winning the world championship for barrel racing in 1979 and was inducted into the Illinois Flag Racing Hall of Fame.
Butch is survived by his wife of 50 years, Connie (Ueding) Grable; sons, Cary W. (Lisa) Grable, John A. (Samira) Grable, and Lee McConnell; daughter, Sonja Russell; grandchildren, Samuel Hart, Felicia Bluebaum, Jordan Grable, Maddex Grable, Caden Grable, Bryson Grable, and Skylar Grable is on the way; great grandson, Beau Klaiber; sisters, Rita Emery and Eva Martin; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Evelyn Pemberton and his parents.
A private graveside service was held at Walnut Hills Cemetery in Petersburg, IN. Pastor Gary Arnold officiated and Military Honors were conducted by the Petersburg VFW Post #3587. Harris Funeral Home was entrusted with care.
