Oleva Uppencamp, 90, of Petersburg, passed away September 23, 2024, at Lakewood Home in Petersburg. She was born June 20, 1934, to Spencer DeWitt and Rosa (Fox) Russell in Otwell, IN. She graduated from Otwell High School Class of 1952. She worked in the Pike County Clerk and Pike County Recorders offices for many years and was also elected to serve as the Pike County Clerk and Pike County Recorder. Oleva was a longtime member of the First Christian Church of Petersburg. She was an avid gardener and loved to cook but more than anything in her life, her Church and family were her priority.

Oleva is survived by her son, Thomas C. (Sue Ellen) Richardson; daughters, Anita R. (David) Nance and Tamara C. (David) McKinney; stepdaughter, Elaine Cockerham; stepsons, Terry (Deborah) Uppencamp, Steve (Sandra) Uppencamp, and Joseph (Jennifer) Uppencamp; brothers, Rev. Lindy Russell and Roger (Suzy) Russell; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Elijah "Osga" Richardson; her next husband, whom she married in May of 1990, James Roy Uppencamp; her parents; son, Leslie R. Hedrick; stepdaughter, Charlotte Richardson; brothers, Noel Russell, Harold Russell, Loyal "Cotton" Russell, Edwin Russell, and Delmas Russell; sisters, Joyce Sendelweck Pride and Opal Rohrschieb; and a stepsister, Diana Foster.

Services for Oleva will take place at 3 PM EST on Sunday, September 29, at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg, IN with visitation from 1 PM EST until service time. Pastor John Manges will be officiating and burial will follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Campbelltown. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations please be made to the First Christian Church of Petersburg or the Vincent Christian Church of Otwell.
