Nancy Ann Bolte, age 84, of Newburgh, Indiana, passed away April 11, 2024. She was born in Petersburg, IN to the late Myron and Otillia Whitelock. Nancy was married to James Bolte, July 7, 1962, at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Petersburg, IN, where she served for many years as organist. Nancy is survived by her husband, James Bolte of Newburgh, IN, two daughters, Kim (Alan) Ciukowski of Knoxville, TN and Christine (Lyle) Oxley of Newburgh, IN and three grandchildren, David Ciukowski of Covington, KY, and Luke and Kayla Oxley of Newburgh, IN. In 1956, she was chosen Miss Pike County Fair Queen. In 1957, she graduated from Petersburg High School. She received her undergraduate degree in education at Oakland City University and earned a Master's degree in education from Indiana State University. Nancy taught elementary school for 37 years, with most of her career teaching second grade for 35 years in the Pike County School Corporation. After retirement, Nancy moved to Newburgh, IN., where she volunteered for an additional 10 years as an elementary school teaching assistant at St. John the Baptist Catholic School in Newburgh and served as a member of the church bereavement committee for several years. Nancy was co-owner of Bolte Music Center/Radio Shack and Shoe Fashions and Men's Wear in Petersburg. Nancy's hobbies included reading, boating, travel and exercise. She was an avid IU basketball fan. Funeral Services – A viewing will be held at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. (EST) on Thursday, April 18. A funeral mass will be held at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Petersburg at 11:30 a.m. EST on Friday, April 19th with graveside services following at Walnut Hill Cemetery, Petersburg.
