Melvin Edward DeJarnett, 74, passed away Friday, May 21, 2021 at his home in Petersburg.  He was born May 26, 1946 in Petersburg to Nathan Shoultz and Goldie Jenne.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and retired as a construction foreman with Rudolphs.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Harold (Moe) & Paul DeJarnett and Frankie Dorf, and a sister Dorothy Jones.

Melvin is survived by his wife of 55 years Karen (Ashby) DeJarnett; daughter Lisa DeJarnett; brother Gene DeJarnett; sisters Faye Smith and Virginia Cockriel; six grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 11:00am on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at Walnut Hills Cemetery in Petersburg with Pastor Ron Ficklin officiating.  Visitation will be from 10:00am until service time, also at the graveside, in Walnut Hills Cemetery.
