Melanie J. Howes, 60, of Petersburg, IN passed away April 23, 2024 in Newburgh, IN. She was born February 5, 1964 to Franklin and Opal (Rousch) Ridao in Owensboro, KY. Melanie graduated from Pike Central High School Class of 1982 and went on to earn a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Southern Indiana. She worked as a case worker for the Petersburg FSSA office for nearly 30 years and Vocational Rehab in Jasper, IN.

Melanie is survived by her husband, Mickey Howes of Petersburg; daughters, Lindsey (Ricky) Covington of Fishers, IN and Emily (Caden) Howes of Monroe City, IN; grandchildren, Asher, Harlow, and Charlie; brothers, Richard (Cindy) Ridao and David (Sherry) Ridao; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Services for Melanie will take place at 12 PM EST on Saturday, April 27, at the 1st United Methodist Church in Petersburg, IN with visitation from 10 AM until service time at the church. Pastor Ron Ficklin will be officiating and burial will follow at Twin Oaks Cemetery in Petersburg, IN. Harris Funeral Home is entrusted with care.
