Mary E. Wilhite, 81, was a loving wife, mother, Mimi and friend who passed away on July 17, 2022 at her daughter's home in Florida.

Mary was born to Luman M. and Neoma Gaines on August 21, 1940 in Sumner, Illinois.

She is survived by her daughter Jamie L. Chapman, and her granddaughter Taelyn Quin Chapman. Also her sister Ellen (Hugh) Enicks, brother Bill (Janie) Gaines, and nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brother's Herbert, Arthur, Paul, and Frank, her husband of 56 years Paul, and her son Bradley Paul.

Mary was a 1958 graduate of Jefferson High School in Lafayette, Indiana and a 1961 graduate of Vincennes University School of Nursing. She worked for 34 years as the Pike County Health Nurse and enjoyed caring for her community.

Graveside services will be at 10:00am on Friday, October 14, 2022, at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Campbelltown, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Mary's memory to the Petersburg Paws Animal Shelter.
