Mary Evelyn Wheatley, 97, of Petersburg, IN, passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at Amber Manor.

She was born on November 19, 1923 in Pike County, IN.  She was the daughter of Emmitt and Edna Jane (Murry) Catt.

She was a homemaker, and worked 9 years for Pike County School Corporation.

She was a member of the Petersburg Free Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher for 20 years until she moved to Mount Carmel, IL.  There she was a member of the Cowling Free Methodist Church.  She was an officer in the W.M.S.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband William M. Wheatley, son Rev. Curtis D. Wheatley, brother James Catt, and sister Ruth Bell Catt.

She is survived by daughters Beverly Sue (Dave) Dunn & Carol LeeAnn (Corey) Anderson; brother Charles E. Catt; daughter-in-law Mercedes Wheatley; 5 grandchildren: Yvonne Burkett, Lisa Coval, Nathan W. Wheatley, Timothy Jay Popp & Tina Kay Sullivan; 1 great-grandson Craig Thomas Popp; and 3 great-granddaughters Charlee, Gracee, & Lillee Sullivan.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at O.D. Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg, IN, with burial to follow at Walnut Hills Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 1:00pm until service time.
