Martha Sue Thorne left this world to be with her Lord and Savior on January 24, 2025 at Amber Manor Care Center in Petersburg. She had been a resident there since 2015. Martha Sue was born on Dec. 3, 1934 to Kathryn (Barker) & Buell Johnson in Pike County, Indiana. Martha Sue was married to Robert Thorne and he preceded her in death in 1994. Martha Sue resided in Crown Point with her daughter and grandson until moving back to Petersburg in 2015 after the death of her family members.

Preceding her in death was her mother, Kathryn Johnson, father, Buell Johnson, daughter, Rhea Dawn Thorne and grandson Cayce Thorne Roberts. She is survived by two cousins, Lana Weisman and John Johnson.

She attended Petersburg High School graduating in 1953. She loved animals and always had a dog and loved each one that she had. They were like family to her.

Visitation will be from 11:00 AM EST to 1:00 PM EST with the funeral following visitation at Harris & Sons Funeral Home in Petersburg on January 28, 2025. Martha Sue will be laid to rest by her husband in Walnut Hills Cemetery in Petersburg.
