Lawrence Curtis Dent Sr. "Buckwheat", 68, of Petersburg passed away November 13, 2024, at his home surrounded by family. He was born April 7th, 1956, to Oril "Bill" Dent and Mary Lou (Brock) in Princeton Indiana. He worked for the railroad for 18 years. He drove a semi for 12 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Buckwheat is survived by his wife of 47 years Alice Dent. Brother Greg Dent, Daughters, Missy (Mickey) Windle of Peterburg, Chrystale (Jeff) Davis of Petersburg, Sons, Tony Hill of Horse Branch Kentucky, Curtis (Tina) Dent of Petersburg, 20 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Buckwheat is preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Loretta Miley, Bonita Smith, Diane Dent, and brother Chad Dent.

Services for Buckwheat will take place at 3 PM EST on Sunday, November 17, at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg, IN with visitation from 12 PM EST until service time. Burial will follow at Montgomery Cemetery in Oakland City and Pastor Ron Ficklin will be officiating. Harris Funeral Home is entrusted with care.
