Kimberly Jo Benefiel, 63, of Newburgh, IN, passed away September 24, 2025 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh. She was born to Gary "Pete" and Carolyn Joyce (Chesser) Benefiel on May 13, 1962 in Oakland City, IN.

Kim loved to read and write but most of all her true passions were playing music and primitive camping. In her youth she played in the Benefiel family band, "Pete & The Repeats." Kim graduated from Pike Central High School Class of 1980 and then from Oakland City University with a B.S. in Music in 1984. During college she performed with Oakland City University's traveling gospel groups Earthlight and Daystar. She taught music class at Washington Catholic School in Washington, IN, East Gibson School Corporation, and at Port Saint Lucie Schools in Florida.

Kim is survived by her brothers, David (Sandy) Benefiel and Steve (Cheryl) Benefiel; nieces, Brittney Benefiel Walls, Shawna Willis, and Heather Robinette; nephews, Alex Benefiel, Aaron Benefiel, and Adam Benefiel; and several great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and her nephew, Branson Benefiel.

Services for Kim will take place at 3 PM EST on Tuesday, September 30th, at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg, IN with visitation from 12 PM EST until service time. Pastor Alex Benefiel will be officiating and burial will follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Harris Funeral Home is entrusted with care.
