Judy Karen (Hedges) White, 81 of Petersburg Indiana entered her heavenly home on Wednesday, February 18, 2026. She was born in Petersburg Indiana on April 21, 1944.

Judy was a graduate of Winslow High School in 1962 and was a lifelong resident of Pike County. She worked as the Middle School Secretary at Pike Central and as the Washington Township Trustee for Pike County for several years before retiring.

Judy married Jimmie L White on November 30 th, 1968 and they spent 57 wonderful years together. During that time they were blessed with a son, Jeffrey Lee and a daughter, Lana Jo.

Judy had a remarkable way of making everyone feel special. Above all, Judy will be remembered for her steady devotion to her family and the quiet and powerful love she gave them. Her listening ear and gentle ways touched so many hearts

Judy also displayed an unwavering faith. She was a prayer warrior and she did not hesitate to tell you about her Jesus. Those who knew her well remember the strength and courage she showed during adversity. Her words of wisdom soothed many souls.

She had many talents including singing beautiful gospel hymns with her three sisters. She attended Littles General Baptist Church in Petersburg Indiana.

Judy was known as an exceptional seamstress and enjoyed her quiet time working crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed going out to eat and shopping with her friends and family. Judy loved the simple things in life and took pride in the beautiful silk flower arrangements that she made. Her home was her castle. Although Judy was petite in nature her character was larger than life. She was fond of beautiful jewelry, and fashionable clothing with a large collection of shoes of all kinds. She was always “prim and proper“, with everything in place.

Judy was proceeded in death by her husband Jimmie L. White; her parents, Buthyl and Roxy Hedges; son Jeffrey White; great granddaughter Olive Hope White; sister Earlena Burkhart and brother-in-law Dewey Burkhart; mother and father-in-law Rudolph and Lottie white; sister-in-law‘s Billy Knight, Willie Gregory, and Trudy Fox.

Judy is survived by her daughter Lana (Dean) Schmett; daughter-in-law, Michelle White; granddaughter Chelsea Potts; grandsons Nicholas Manning; Tyler (Holly) White; Hunter (Ellie )Russell; step grandson, Kyle(Nichole) Schmett; great grandchildren, Kaiden Young, Bowen Potts, Daxen Potts, Graycen White, Collyns White, Khloe Schmett; sisters, Myrna (Bertis) Jenkins, Sharon (Wayne) Riester, . And many loving nieces and nephews.

She was so much to so many, a mother, a grandmother, a mother-in-law, a wife, a daughter, a sister, and a friend. To her entire family, she was everything we wanted her to be.

Services for Judy will take place at 2:30 PM EST on Saturday, February 21st, at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg, IN with visitation from 10:30 until service time. Pastor Keith Jenkins will be officiating and burial will follow at Walnut Hills Cemetery. Harris Funeral Home is entrusted with care.
