A great man, Jimmie "Jim" Lee White, was born on April 24, 1942, in Petersburg, Indiana, and was sent to his eternal home on December 9, 2025.

Jim, as he was affectionately known, was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey on this earth was full of love, compassion, and complete dedication to many. He had a profound impact on his family, friends, and community.

Jim called Pike County home his entire life. After his graduation from Petersburg High School in 1960, Jim enlisted in the United States Navy. His highest rank was IC 2nd class. He spent time on three destroyers before returning home in 1964. He continued to serve in many different organizations, including the Jaycees, VFW Post 3587, IOOF, and Moose Lodge 1617 of Petersburg, where he held many offices. Jim earned the Pilgrim Degree of Merit, which is the highest honor of the Loyal Order of Moose, in 2003. He continued to serve the organization throughout the years. He also served as precinct committeeman for the Democratic Party of Pike County and was a poll worker for many elections.

His most recent adventure was attending the Honor Flight to Washington DC, EVV19 this year.

Jim’s career as an electrician started while serving in the Navy. He was a member of IBEW Local 16 of Evansville. After retirement, he graciously took a position as the Veterans Officer of Pike County. Jim attended Littles General Baptist Church in Petersburg. He was also an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed collecting memorabilia. Jim had a rare gift of perfectionism and enjoyed completing DIY projects. Jim found joy in the little things in life. He was very content living a simple life and taking care of his home alongside his wife, Judy.

Jim and Judy married on November 30, 1968, in a small ceremony that started a lifelong journey of 57 years. They were blessed with one son, Jeffrey Lee, and one daughter, Lana Jo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Lottie White; son, Jeffrey Lee White; great-granddaughter, Olive Hope White; sisters, Billie Knight, Willie Gregory, Trudy (Glen) Fox; sister in-law, Earlena (Dewey) Burkhart, mother in-law and father in-law, Buthyl (Roxie) Hedges.

Jim is survived by his wife, Judy (Hedges) White; daughter, Lana (Dean) Schmett; daughter-in-law, Michelle White; granddaughter, Chelsea Potts; grandsons, Nicholas Manning, Tyler (Holly) White, and Hunter (Ellie) Russell; Step grandson, Kyle (Nichole) Schmett; great-grandchildren, Kaiden Young, Bowen Potts, Daxen Potts, Graycen White, Collyns White, Khloe Schmett; sister, Frankie Blaize; Sister in-laws Myrna (Bertis) Jenkins and Sharon (Wayne) Riester. Many loving nieces, and nephews.

Those who knew Jim will remember a quiet man who spoke volumes. His generous and loving nature has created a legacy that will not be forgotten.

A Moose service will take place at 2:30 PM EST and the Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg, Indiana, with burial to follow at Walnut Hills Cemetery. Visitation is from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
