Listen to Obituary

Jerry Craig, 82, of White Oak, IN, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Linda White Hospice House in Evansville, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born January 3, 1943, in Velpen, IN, to Luther and Norma (Willis) Craig, Jerry graduated with the Otwell High School class of 1961. A hardworking man his entire life, he retired from Indianapolis Power & Light (IPL) in 2000 after decades of dedicated service. The last 25 years were the ones he cherished most - tending his garden, fishing whenever he could talk someone into going with him, hunting with family and friends, and simply enjoying every day with Patty “Sug”, the love of his life and his bride of 63 years.

Jerry never met a stranger, never turned down a chance to help someone, and never let a good story go untold (even if most of us had heard it a dozen times before). His hands were calloused from work, his heart was soft for his grandkids, and his laugh could fill a room. He lived a good, honest, full life, and he leaves behind a legacy of love that will carry on in everyone who was fortunate enough to know him.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Patty (Hayes) Craig; sons, Gregory Dean (Jody) Craig and Brent (Jamie Williams) Craig; grandchildren, Jim and Allyson (Craig) Bowers and Clint and Kelsey (Barrett) Craig; great-grandchildren, Barin, Klaire, and Kameryn Bowers; sister, Patsy Gilham; brother, Gordon (Grace Brittain) Craig; brother-in-law, Roger Chamness; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and his loyal four-legged shadow, Willie B.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Norma Craig, and his sister, Debbie Chamness.

Funeral services for Jerry will be held at 1 PM EST on Wednesday, November 26, at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg, IN. Visitation will take place from 11 AM EST until service time. Burial will follow at Otwell Cemetery with Pastor Gary Arnold officiating. Harris Funeral Home is entrusted with care.
