Jennifer Jean Julian Dedman, 74, of Winslow, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home on October 4, 2026, surrounded by love. Jennifer was born April 27, 1952, in Princeton, Indiana, to Max Eugene Julian and Mary Dell Gatecliffe Julian, who preceded her in death. She was raised in Princeton until her teenage years, when her family moved to Spurgeon, Indiana. She graduated from Winslow High School in 1970.
On July 2, 1970, Jennifer married her high school sweetheart, Brent Craig Dedman. Together, they shared 56 years of marriage built upon a deep and lasting love, commitment to one another, devotion to their family, and countless cherished memories. Their life together was a testament to the beauty of a love that grows stronger through the years. Jennifer was a devoted wife and mother who dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her family. She and Brent were blessed with two children: son Bradley Craig Dedman, married to Becky Dedman of Lewisport, Kentucky; and daughter Jody Lynn Dedman Troutman, married to Kenneth of Jasper, Indiana.
Her greatest joy in life was her family, and nothing brought her greater happiness than her four grandchildren, who were truly the pride and joy of her life: Wyatt Cade Troutman, Myah Renée Troutman, Levi Craig Dedman, and Jake Richard Dedman. Jennifer obtained her Child Development Associate (CDA) from Indiana State University. She was a stay-at-home mother while her children were young, giving them her time, love, and unwavering support. As her children grew older, she began working for Head Start as a preschool teacher, a role that reflected her natural compassion and love for children. She later worked as a Patient Service Representative at Memorial Hospital in Jasper, Indiana, until her retirement in 2005.
Jennifer was also deeply involved in her community. She served as secretary of the Pike County Democratic Party and as a precinct committeewoman. Those who knew Jennifer will remember her most for her caring and selfless heart. She had an extraordinary ability to put others before herself and was always willing to be there for someone in need. She was the heart of her family—the person who brought people together, created traditions, celebrated every holiday, and filled ordinary moments with love and meaning. She especially cherished time spent with her children and grandchildren. She loved baking with her grandchildren, making memories with them, and simply being together. She loved all dogs, especially her beloved Scruffy and her granddogs, Kate and Jack. She enjoyed watching hummingbirds and loved seeing cardinals, finding joy in the simple and beautiful things around her.
Jennifer was a woman of strong faith. She was baptized and saved and was a devoted Christian who attended Winslow Christian Church. Her faith, strength, and compassion were reflected in the way she lived her life and cared for those around her. Jennifer’s love was immeasurable. She gave so much of herself to her husband, children, grandchildren, family, friends, and community. She was incredibly strong, deeply caring, and selfless, always making sure others were cared for before thinking of herself. She was loved deeply by her husband, her children, and her grandchildren, and that love will continue long after her passing. The love Jennifer poured into her family will remain a part of who they are for the rest of their lives. Her lessons, traditions, kindness, strength, and countless memories will be carried forward by those fortunate enough to have called her wife, Mom, Mamaw, family, and friend.
Jennifer leaves behind a legacy not measured by accomplishments, but by the lives she touched and the love she gave so freely. She was the heart of her family, and she will be missed more than words can express.
