Horace L. Dillon, 90, of Otwell, passed away December 4, 2023, in Petersburg, IN. He was born March 20, 1933, to Tony and Marjorie (DeMotte) Dillon. He married his High School sweetheart, Joyce Ashby. They were married for 71 and a half years. Horace was a Korean War Veteran and later retired from Midwestern Gas after 34 years.

He was a member of Glen Dale Lodge F & AM, a charter member of the Otwell Ruritan, charter member of the Jefferson Township Fire Department, director of the Otwell Senior Housing, member of the Otwell United Methodist Church, and the Otwell Community Center. He enjoyed gardening and I.U. Basketball, his grandchildren and great grandchildren were his pride and joy. He enjoyed traveling. He and his wife had been to every state in the United States and four overseas countries. He also enjoyed going to his army reunions every year.

Horace is survived by his wife, Joyce Dillon; sons, Greg (Jana) Dillon of Newburgh and Pat (Joni) Dillon of Otwell; grandchildren, Abby (Jake) Warnsman of Montgomery, Andrea (Chad) Hochgesang of Ireland, Tyler (Shanique) Dillon of Otwell, Breanna (Kyle) Persohn of Schnellville; eight great grandchildren; brother, Lowell Dillon of Huntingburg; and a sister, Vivian Reed of Otwell.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Sylvester (Sonny) Dillon, Ralph Dillon, Jim Dillon, Roger Dillon, and Norman Dillon; and sisters, Clarabelle Sheldon and Ninalea Lottes.

Services for Horace will take place at 10 AM EST on Monday, December 11, with visitation from 4 – 8 PM EST Sunday, December 10, at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg, IN. A Masonic Service will take place at 7 PM EST during visitation on Sunday, December 10, at Harris Funeral Home. Pastor Jeff Pinney will be officiating, and burial will follow at Otwell Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations please be made to the Otwell United Methodist Church or the Otwell Community Center. Harris Funeral Home is entrusted with care.
