Gary Alan Young, 70, of Petersburg, IN passed away on August 27 in Evansville, IN. He was born March 30, 1950 to Prentice and Virginia Young in Gibson County, IN. Gary loved to hunt and fish. One of his greatest passions was serving on the Spurgeon/ Monroe Volunteer Fire Department where he was a lifetime member. Gary retired from DMI (Dolly Madison Inc.).

Gary is survived by his daughter, Mari (Charles) Schwarz of Petersburg and his grandson, Demetre Young. He is preceded in death by his wife, Erma Young; son, Kary Young; his parents; and his sister, Judy Foust.

A graveside service will take place at 9 AM on Saturday, October 10, at Williams Cemetery in Winslow, IN. The service will be officiated by Pastor Alec Hensley. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Spurgeon/ Monroe Fire Department. A celebration of life service will take place at 3:30 PM on August 28, 2021 at the Spurgeon/ Monroe Fire Dept. and will be hosted by the Indiana Volunteer Fire Department.
