Edgar Eugene "Gene" Miller, 79, passed away at home on July 21, 2024, surrounded by his family.

He was born in Washington, Indiana on February 3, 1945, to Herbert and Helen (Short) Miller.

Gene was a loving husband to Barbara (Perry) Miller for 59 years. He was a father of 3 to Janet (Dee) Church, Angie (Larry) Wojtowicz, and Perry (Jenessa) Miller. A grandfather of 7 to Andrew (Alivia) Church, Trevor (Brooke) Church, Joey Church, Madeleine McGregor, Garrett (Olivia) Wojtowicz, Zack Miller and Ava Miller and 6 great grandchildren, Maddax McGregor, Remi Church, Kabric Hunter. Knox Gladish, baby Isabella Wojtowicz, and baby Church. Gene was the middle child of 13 brothers and sisters. He was a man who loved spending time with his family and most importantly, a man who loved the Lord.

He was a long-time member (57years) of Knights Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church and served many positions including, Elder, Sunday school teacher, song leader, and trustee.  He was in the Ironworkers Union, Local #103 for 41 years, and farmed on the side.  Gene was, with no doubt, a man who loved to work and would help anyone in need.

Gene is survived by his loving wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren. 3 sisters, Betty (Mac) McDonald, Carolyn Weathers and Beverly Riley, 4 brothers, Robert Miller, John (Ingrid) Miller, Dan (Sabrina) Miller, Jerry (Cathy) Miller, numerous nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly.

He is preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Helen (Short) Miller, brothers, Jack, Charlie, James, Terry and Gary.

Visitation will be held on Thursday July 25th 4pm-8pm and Friday July 26th beginning at 8:30am at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg, IN. Funeral service will begin at 10am at the funeral home. Harris Funeral Home is entrusted with care.
