Dorothea Lou Warner

Dorothea “Dee” Warner of Winslow passed away on September 29, 2026, at Good Samaritan in

Oakland City. She was born on January 19, 1940, in Huntingburg, Indiana, to Hugh and Almeda

(Doetker) Carlisle.

Dee found joy in life’s simple and beautiful moments. She loved tending her flower beds,

watching them flourish through her care and patience. At home, she could often be found with a

spool of yarn nearby, a crochet hook in hand, music filling her living room, and a James

Patterson novel nearby ... because even she knew there was always room for a little mystery,

romance, or just enough mischief to make her grin. That same spark showed up in everyday

life. She believed in leaving things better than she found them, a value she carried into her

volunteer work with the Winslow Beautification Committee and Bread of Life.

But of all the roles Dee held throughout her life, none brought her greater happiness than being

a mother and grandmother.

Her family knew that she expressed her love through what she did, rather than through grand

displays of affection. She had a steadfast way of showing up when she was needed most.

Whether helping clean a home, cheering from the sidelines at a sporting event or music recital,

caring for her grandchildren, or lending a hand wherever she was needed, she gave freely of

her time, energy, devotion, and love.

While we mourn her loss, we are grateful for the remarkable legacy she leaves behind. Rooted

in love, family, resilience, and grace, her life was a testament to caring for others, showing up

without fail, and giving generously of herself.

Dee leaves behind a loving family who will carry her memory forward: her sister, Phyllis Carlisle;

her daughters, Rebecca Barnes, Jeanette Walls, and Melissa (David) Andrews; her sons, Joe

(Audra) Warner and John Warner; her grandchildren, Tony Caratzola, Jason Walker, Kristy

Walker, Casondra Price, Dawnetta Richardson, Zachary Cato, Rachel Harper, Kamie

Richardson, Mariah Poggioli, Stephen Ffrench, Madison Warner, Dakota Andrews, Emmy Lou

Warner, Kaylyn Warner, Haley Woodhull, Shane Woodhull, Cameron Clement, Josie Warner,

Gertie Warner, Willow Warner, Charleigh Warner, and Ronnie Warner; along with 21

great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren who were blessed to know her love.

She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Stephanie Walker; her parents; her

sisters, Patricia Krampe, infant Carol Sue Carlisle, and Kay Drury; and her brothers, Fred,

Irving, Hank, Hugh Jr., Don Allen, and Larry Carlisle.

Services at O.D. Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg, are pending and will be posted this Friday.

Dee will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her. Online
