Listen to Obituary

With profound sadness and unwavering love, we announce the peaceful passing of Cindy Beard on July 23, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on November 28, 1954, and raised in Mt. Olympus, Indiana, she lived a life defined by kindness, generosity, and an unwavering devotion to those she loved.

She earned her Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from Oakland City University, reflecting her lifelong love of children and her desire to serve others. Throughout her career, she worked in a variety of roles, including at JCPenney, Orion, as co-owner of MMK Computer, and most recently as a teacher’s aide with the North Gibson School Corporation. No matter where she worked, she was known for her caring heart, strong work ethic, and willingness to help others.

Her greatest joy was her family. She treasured every opportunity to travel south to visit loved ones, creating lasting memories through family adventures and time spent together. Nothing brought a bigger smile to her face than being with her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She also shared her nurturing spirit by babysitting countless children throughout the years for both family members and families in her community, touching many lives with her patience and love.

She is survived by her loving children, Jarrod (Leslie) Beard of Daphne, Alabama, and Natalie (Jason) Marsh of Milford, Ohio. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Baylor, Rhys, Jackson, Parker, and Ashton. She is also survived by her siblings Bert (Ann) Hyneman, Bret (Judy) Hyneman, Cathy Fields, and Susan (Ivan) Baker along with her beloved nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends, all of whom will forever treasure her memory. She is preceded in death by her parents, Wib and Peggy Hyneman.

Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing she is now at peace. Her legacy of love, compassion, generosity, and unwavering dedication to her family will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know her. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mt. Olive Cemetery Fund.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00am CST (Gibson County time) on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg, Indiana, with burial to follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Mt. Olympus. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00pm CST (Gibson County time) on Friday, July 24, at the funeral home.

Harris Funeral Home is entrusted with care. Online condolences may be made at odharrisfuneralhome.com
