IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charles
Lee
August 23, 1950 – November 8, 2024
Charles (Chuck) Alva Lee, 74, passed away on November 8, 2024, in Petersburg, Indiana. He was born on August 23, 1950 in Mattoon Illinois. He then moved with his family to Robinson in 1968. Chuck grew into a man known for his humor, kind-hearted nature, strong work ethic, and deep faith. His sense of humor was always present which earned him the title of "Uncle Chuckles" by his nieces. He was great at making people laugh and see the best in every situation.
Chuck attended Robinson High School and furthered his education at a trade school. He worked at the Quail Creek County Club for a period of time. He then put his skills to use that would define his career at Lawrence Sand & Gravel for 32 years before his retirement. Beyond his professional life, Chuck found joy and meaning with his family and friends. His soul was happy by helping others in any way he could. He and his wife Naomi became "regulars" at many local restaurants and could be found sitting drinking a cup of coffee and visiting with friends and strangers alike. While filling his belly at his favorite spots was important he knew filling his spirit was just as important. His spirit was filled by attending a number of area churches over the years such as Dayspring Christian Church, West Side Church of God, Robinwood Assembly of God and Petersburg First Church of God. He believed being active in the church was important which is why he was often involved in revivals, church dinners and other church events. He also loved to sing specials at church with his wife, Naomi and Granddaughter, Michelle. He could be found in a pew each week, up until his health prevented it. At that time, he and Naomi enjoyed televised sermons and worship services. His unwavering faith brought comfort to his family and friends and those around him that benefited from his relationship with God. Knowing he is now in heaven brings peace to those whom he has left behind.
Family was always at the forefront of his mind. He enjoyed spending holidays with them, attending the kids school and sporting events. He made friends anywhere he went which is not a surprise to those that knew him best.
His hobbies included drinking coffee at Joe's Italian Foods and other local restaurants, riding his motorcycle, playing guitar, camping, fishing, and playing cards with friends. Chuck also enjoyed singing with friends and family while playing his guitar. He spent many hours doing just that with his wife, Naomi, Granddaughter, Michelle and Grandson Max. Anytime they got together you can guarantee there was singing and guitar playing done!
He is survived by his wife, Naomi Lee; brother, William (late Sally) Lee; sister, Waneita (late Randy) McCormick; nieces, Karla (Duaine) Correll, Sandra (Todd) Cooper; nephews, Kevin (Becky) Lee and Michael Lee; special granddaughter, Michelle (Brad) Burkhart; great-grandson, Max Burkhart; stepchildren, Don (Melanie) Wall, Cheryl (Johnny) Price; Teresa (late Roger) Demoss, and Thomas (Aliza) Wall; along with 15 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and several great-nieces/nephews and cousins and lifelong best friend Don Warren.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Evelyn Lee, and sisters, Connie Lee in infancy and Kathy Lee.
