Billy C. Claridge, 82, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, October 7, 2017. He was born June 22, 1935 to the late Chester & Irene (Frudenberger) Claridge.

Billy was the temple operator for Amax coal mine. He married Sharlene Wyatt on June 26, 1959. He was a member of the Odd Fellows #175, U.M.W.A., 1st United Methodist Church of Petersburg where he sang in the choir for 50 years, and a Veteran.

Bill is survived by: his wife, Sharlene; sons, Kent (Tricia) Claridge & Phil (Jody) Claridge; grandchildren, Erin & Trevor Claridge, and Andrew Claridge all of Petersburg; brothers, Wilbur (Peggy) Claridge, Jerry (Phyllis) Claridge, Robert (Kathleen) Claridge, and Clayton (Sharon) Claridge; sisters, Naomi Hadlock, Sonny Skinner, and Barbara McCormick.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 10th at 11:00am EST at the 1st United Methodist Church in Petersburg Indiana. Rev. Mel Camp and Rev. Leon Pomeroy will be officiating the services. Burial will follow at Walnut Hills Cemetery in Petersburg. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 9th at the 1st United Methodist in Petersburg from 4-8pm EST & on Tuesday from 9am until the services. There will be an Odd Fellows service during the visitation by I.O.O.F #175 and military graveside service by V.F.W. Lodge #3587. Memorial contributions may be made to I.O.O.F. Walnut Hills Cemetery of Petersburg. Harris Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Mr. Claridge.
