Betty Mae Weisheit, 88, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 8, 2026. She was born on August 18, 1937, in Monroe City, Indiana, to the late Glen Cecil Berry and Gertrie Bell Stroud Berry. Betty graduated from Monroe City High School in 1955. From a young age, Betty chose a path rooted in faith and spiritual devotion. She was a longtime member of Reels Chapel Methodist Church in Monroe City, where she taught Sunday school and vacation bible school, and Petersburg First United Methodist Church. Throughout her life, she faithfully served on various church committees and found great joy in organizing church meals, including those for holidays and funeral luncheons.

Betty developed a strong work ethic early in life while helping on the family farm, where she milked cows as a young girl. She cherished time with her family and enjoyed traveling the world. Betty also had a passion for flowers and was an active member of her garden club—she truly had a green thumb.

Betty met the love of her life, Karl Weisheit, while working at Dugan Purina Feeds. They were married on May 5, 1957, and made their home in Petersburg, Indiana. Betty was deeply involved in her community, serving on the Prides Creek Park Board, Conservation Board, and Election Board. She was also a member of the Petersburg Methodist Women's Club and a longtime speaker for the Farm Bureau. In 1980, she was honored as District Farm Bureau Woman of the Year. A dedicated 4-H leader, Betty enjoyed sharing her knowledge and love of agriculture with her children and others. She and her son also co-owned Weisheit Hog Farms. Above all, Betty's greatest joy was raising her children and watching her family grow and flourish. Her beloved husband, Karl, preceded her in death on July 4, 1990. Betty will be remembered for her unwavering faith and her willingness to always lend a helping hand.

She is survived by her son, Terry Lee Weisheit and his wife, Angie; her daughter, Karla Sue Weisheit Schmitz and her husband, Dr. Marcus Schmitz, and her grandchildren, Dr. Stephen Karlton Schmitz and his wife, Sara, and Michael Thomas Schmitz. She is also survived by her brother, Billy Glen Berry and his wife, Kate Berry; her sister, Glenda Sue Berry Beard and her husband, James Beard; and her nieces Martha Dawn (Craig) Small and Jennifer Brooke Berry.

A graveside service will be held at Walnut Hills Cemetery in Petersburg, Indiana, on April 4 at 10:30 a.m. All are welcome. A celebration of life will follow at Petersburg First United Methodist Church. Harris Funeral Home is entrusted with care.
