Ruby Jean Kirk

Ruby Jean Kirk, 90, passed away on October 23, 2018 at Lakewood Home in Petersburg. She was born on Feb. 3, 1928 to Charles ‘Ott’ and Elizabeth Austin in Johnson, IN.

Ruby is survived by her son, Allen (Janie) Kirk of Mooresville; daughter, Debra (Ted) Hawkins of Cloverdale; grandchildren, Yvette (Bryan) Gutierrez, Derek Kirk, and Audra Hawkins; 5 great grandchildren; and sister, Wanda. She is preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Kirk; parents; brothers, Arthur, Lewis, Howard, Lawrence, and Charles; sisters, Hazel, Mary, Eva, and Grace.

Ruby was a loving, kind, caring, and very funny wife, mother, grandma, aunt, and friend. She loved to dance and be silly. Her heart was full of love and laughter. Her home was filled with the smell of baking and happiness. Thanks to all who shared in her life of love. A special thank you to the Lakewood staff and especially her friend Sherry, we don’t know what we would have done without you...Ruby loved you so.

Services for Ruby will be held at 1 PM EST on Thursday, Oct. 26, at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg, IN with visitation from 11 until service time. Burial will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to the Lakewood Home Residence Fund. Harris Funeral Home is entrusted with care.
