Robert Edward Mason

Robert E. Mason, age 83, of Petersburg, IN, passed away at Deaconess Gateway Hospital on Friday, June 14, 2019. 

Robert was born June 2, 1936 to Fred and Ethel (Roy) Mason.  He married Margaret Martin on June 5, 1965, enjoying 43 years of marriage until her passing in 2008.

Robert worked as a coal miner, retiring from United Minerals in May 2009.  He loved animals, his favorite being his Dachshunds through the years. 

He is survived by sons: Donald (Becky) Mason and Neil Mason, of Evansville, IN; daughter: Robyn (Gary) Evans, of Petersburg, IN; grandchildren: Olivia, Ella, and Liam Mason, of Evansville, Clay Poindexter, of Jasper, and Cassie Wilkes and Alan Evans, of Petersburg, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, and 10 siblings: Faye Lavern Kendall, Irene Woodsmall Dutton, Rosalee Mitch, Betty Bolin, and Lucille, Elza, Charles, Clemer, Arvil, and Lorene Mason.

Services will be held at 2 PM EST on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg, IN, Pastor Jim Gidcumb officiating, with visitation from 10 AM EST until service time on Wednesday. Burial will follow at Blackfoot Cemetery.  Harris Funeral Home is entrusted with care.
