Mary Lavonne (Dillon) Pride, 82 pasted away February 20 in Panama City, Florida. Lavonne was born March 27, 1936 in Velpen, Indiana to Lloyd E Dillon and Laura Ruth Dillon and was the oldest of four siblings (Bonnie, Neil, Glenn). She graduated from Ireland High School in 1954. She married Royce K. Pride in 1955 and moved to the Evansville area until 2005 after which she and Royce moved to Panama City, Florida where they lived until her death. She had two sons, Michael (Athina) and Timothy (Nancy) and one granddaughter, Katherine Pride.
Lavonne was an avid reader and writer and collected family genealogy. She was a lifelong pianist and loved many types of music and ballroom dancing. Lavonne loved people, especially children, was naturally generous and well-practiced in her Christian faith throughout her life. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the LLL Sunday School Class in Panama City Florida.
Lavonne worked at many churches throughout her life as well as the University of Evansville Religion Department. She was also a Rural Letter Carrier in Newburgh.
A memorial service for Lavonne will be held Saturday, May 4 at 11 am at Harris Funeral Home, 705 East Walnut Street, Petersburg, Indiana. Dr. Larry Bruce will be speaking. Meeting with family and friends will be available at 10 am before the service. In lieu of flowers, donate to Gideons International Bible Program.
