Hilda M. (Colvin) Schapker

Hilda M. Colvin Schapker, 94, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 30, 2018 at the home of her son Christopher in Evansville, IN. She was born October 16, 1923 in Bowman, IN to Herschel and Oalis E. Orand Colvin. She was a homemaker and later work as a waitress until retirement. She loved to work with her flowers, playing bingo, fishing on the White River, and working word search puzzles. She was a member of and attended the Clarks Chapel Church in Somerville when she was able. She was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW Coleman Post 3589 in Petersburg, IN. She was a Past President of the Ladies Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Winslow, IN.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Melvin Schapker; a sister, Bettye Colvin Lucas and brothers, Samuel and Bruce Colvin, and Robert Cummines.

Surviving are sons, Christopher Schapker and husband Kerry Niehaus, Mitchell Schapker and wife Shelly, and Brian Schapker- all of Evansville; step sons, M. Jerry (Pam) Schapker and Richard (Lara) Schapker- Evansville and Robert (Kathy) Schapker-Newburgh; sister, Patricia Whitaker- Elberfeld; grandson, Owen Michael Schapker-Petersburg; her fur granddaughters, Molley and Lilly; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Friday, May 4, at 11 AM EST at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg, IN with Pastor Jeffery Bryant officiating. Visitation will take place on Thursday, May 3, from 4-8 PM EST at her son Christopher Schapker and Kerry Niehaus at 418 Edgar St. Evansville, IN. Burial will take place at Williams Cemetery in Bowman. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Christopher Schapker and mailed to the address above. Harris Funeral Home is entrusted with care.
